Pause

Okay, I was trying really hard not to do this but here we are:

I am moving out of San Diego simply because this is the best option for me right now. The internships that I hoped would turn into jobs didn't and finances will not allow me to finish my certificate or continue to live in San Diego without a job.

Because I want so badly to be in the industry of movers, shakers, makers, creators, and designers, I'm opting to first move home and explore options in LA and the OC. I will be on hiatus the next couple of weeks while I sort out the move. I do have some great back posts to sit down and write, but I just haven't had the heart to since going home was a very difficult decision to make.

This weekend and next weekend, I will be assisting the amazing Sharon Cole of A Dream Wedding by Sharon Cole at two day-of events. I'm so disappointed that I won't be getting further tutelage from her events but I have learned a lot from her in a very short time.

Meanwhile, I hope you'll check me out at my personal blog - Shanna Suburbia.

Thanks for your patience.

Colorful Fridays: DIY Fabric Flowers

I regret to announce that this will be the last Colorful Fridays feature for some time. If my readers are interested, I would definitely like to revisit this feature in the future but for now I am finding it difficult part of my schedule to maintain and will not be doing for a while. This really just has to do with the personal things in my life, which is branching into my professional (or lack thereof) aspects of it.

Anyhow, Lucky Me! shares this guide from Make It, Do It on how to make these beautiful fabric flowers. Can you believe all you need is ribbon, thread, felt, and a pin?

And, of course, you can use all colors to achieve your decor goals!

Another Shameless Plug =)

Hi ladies and gents (and everything in-between),

I've just launched a new (nearly) daily blog about culture, relationships, lifestyle, and whatever interesting things come my way. You'll hear a lot about my personal life and see me experiment with being a writer so here it is:

I'm also changing the update schedule for this blog but haven't finalized it so we'll see in the upcoming weeks what happens to my posting schedule. =P

Guest of a Guest

Anne Chertoff, writer of From "I Will" to "I Do" suggests these simple guidelines for deciding whether or not to allow "+1".
  • If someone is married both the husband and wife are invited, even if you don’t like the spouse.
  • If a couple is living together, because they are dating—not just roommates— then you invite both of them and you put both of their names on the invitation.
  • You can decide your own “rule” regarding friends who are dating someone. Many couples use the six-month rule: If a couple has been dating (not living together) for six months or more they both get invited to the wedding.

Colorful Fridays: Strawberry Bouquet

Anyone who knows me knows my soft spot for strawberries! Everything from fresh strawberries to artificially flavored strawberry confections; I can't get enough of that gorgeous red tastiness. And I have to say, I'm EXTREMELY tempted to decide right here and now to make this strawberry bouquet for my own wedding!

(via little winter bride: strawberry bouquet)
(so pretty)

Yes, I can see it now -- strawberries everywhere. All the decor, centerpieces, cake... and best of all, you can eat all of it afterward. Can't get much more green than that!

What other fruits or veggies do you think would make a great theme?

10 Dollar Date

I'm very excited to announce that I will be co-authoring a new blog with my friend Tammi, and we just went live! 10 Dollar Date will be about romance on a shoestring, covering tips and ideas for making dates without breaking the bank. $10 is a target, since the idea is about being frugal without being cheap and not sacrificing that lovin' feeling.

Please give us a gander over at 10 Dollar Date and keep checking back while it grows! If you have any ideas or suggestions, please send them to 10dollardates [at] gmail [dot] com!
